One of my most interesting commissions recently
One of the most interesting commissions I’ve finished recently was this thickly padded yogi - a traditional Japanese kimono-style comforter.
The design follows the four seasons across the garment.
One sleeve starts with sakura blossoms, while the other features wisteria and falling raindrops. As the design moves across the kimono, spring turns into autumn, with maple leaves, and finally into winter with delicate snowflakes.
The yogi is thickly padded, making it wonderfully warm and soft, inside, it is fully lined with purple cotton batiste, which adds a lovely soft finish and a little extra colour hidden on the inside.
This was definitely a different kind of kimono commission for me, and one I really enjoyed making. There’s something especially satisfying about creating a piece that is both practical and completely unique.
