HOW IT'S MADE

FROM AN ORIGINAL DESIGN TO FABRIC,

FROM FABRIC TO SOMETHING YOU CAN WEAR.

Magpies Studio is a small family-run textile studio.

We design our own patterns, print them directly onto fabric and turn those fabrics into the pieces you find in our shop.

THE DESIGN

Every 3Magpies pattern starts with an idea.

We create our own artwork inspired by Japanese culture, folklore, nature, textiles and the details we discover around us.

We then develop each design digitally. preparing it specifically for textile printing.

TWO FABRICS, TWO PRINTING PROCESSES

Different fabrics require different printing technologies. We work with both cotton and polyester, using digital direct-to-fabric processes for each.

For polyester we use dye-sublimation technology, printing directly onto the fabric. For cotton we use digital direct-to-fabric print.

Because the design is printed directly onto the textile, there is no transfer paper involved.

And both our printing processes use no water at any stage of

the printing or fixing the print.

WHY WE CHOSE THIS TECHNOLOGY

When we started developing our own textile printing, we wanted a process that would give us creative freedom without relying on large production runs.

Digital printing allows us to create our own designs in smaller quantities and print directly onto fabric.

Our processes also use no water, and our direct-to-fabric polyester sublimation eliminates the need for transfer paper.

This also means virtually no printing waste, helping us keep our environmental impact to a minimum
